Today, at 5:19pm Station 64 & Montgomery County Station 69 were dispatched to the area of the South Hanover Street bridge for a reported water rescue. Chief 64, Deputy 64, Battalion 64, Utility 64 & Rescue 64 (Crew of 5) responded at dispatch. 64 and 69 units arrived on scene and confirmed one person in the water. Station 77, Station 62, Montco Station 51, and Berks Station 16 were alerted to assist. Rescue 64 split its crew, sending members out on the water with Boat 69 while the rest of the crew relocated to the Keim Street bridge to assist with ground search operations. Station 77 and Station 62 responded to Tow Path Park to standby for rescue operations. We are glad to report the victim was able to remove himself from the water and was turned over to EMS for evaluation. Station 64 responded with a total of 12 members to assist with this incident. Crews operated on scene for approximately 1 hour before returning back to quarters. |
