| On Friday at 6:26AM, Station 64 was dispatched to assist Pottstown Fire Department in the area of North Hanover Street and Chestnut Street, Pottstown Borough, for a reported commercial structure fire. Captain 64, Lieutenant 64, and Tower 64 (crew of 4) made the response. First arriving Pottstown units arrived at the scene of a vacant church fully involved and made an aggressive interior attack before severe fire conditions and partial building collapse forced them to evacuate the building. Tower 64 took the rear of the building and set up its master streams to assist with fire suppression. Pottstown command struck multiple extra alarms to bring additional resources to the scene to assist along with standby companies to cover the area while crews worked to bring the fire under control. Montco Engine 79 and Engine 52 supplied water to Tower 64 throughout the incident. Due to collapse concerns, multiple residences had to be evacuated. 64 units would remain on the scene for approximately 4 hours assisting before returning to quarters.
