Your Norco volunteers have had a busy start to the week, responding to seven emergencies. Tower 64 has handled four emergencies so far: one reported house fire and three chimney fires.

Tower 64, a 1994 Sutphen Tower Ladder with a 96-foot reach, has been serving the residents of North Coventry Township and its surrounding communities for over 31 years. It features a 300-gallon tank and a 1500-gallon-per-minute pump.

Did you know that the recommended lifespan of a fire apparatus like Tower 64 is approximately 15 years per the NFPA? Due to high costs and excessively long lead times associated with fire apparatus, many fire companies are compelled to significantly extend the lifespan of apparatus. The cost of a new ladder truck can range from $1,500,000 to $3,000,000, depending on the brand and customization options. In some cases, the lead time for delivery of the apparatus can be as long as 4 years. This makes it extremely challenging for volunteer fire companies to own and maintain such equipment.

Fortunately, Norco Fire Company’s members have managed to keep this piece of equipment in good working condition well beyond its expected lifespan and continue to use it as a frontline piece of equipment to this day!

Norco Fire Company is always welcoming new members to our team. No prior experience is necessary to join, and all equipment and training are provided at no cost to members. The minimum age requirement to join is 16. For more information, please contact us today!
