At 10:39pm on Tuesday, Station 64 was dispatched to assist Montco Station 69 for a reported underground electrical fire with explosions in the area of North Hanover Street and High Street in Pottstown Borough. Tower 64 (Crew of 6) arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Tower 64’s crew was divided into two teams to meter multiple homes and businesses in the vicinity with firefighters from Montco Station 58, 59, and 69. Any homes with readings on the meters were appropriately ventilated to ensure residents could safely return. Crews continued to monitor the conditions in all affected structures while PECO worked to mitigate the issue. After operating for approximately three and a half hours, Tower 64 was released by Pottstown command and returned to quarters.
